Billable hours software built for law firms

Unrecorded six-minute increments are revenue your firm already earned and will never collect. Timix.AI captures billable hours the way your firm bills them — client → matter → task — and flags unbilled time before it fades.

90-day free trial, full access, no credit card.

01 The problem

Unbilled time is the quietest write-off

Under-recording doesn't look like a problem — it looks like a slightly short day. Across a firm and a year, it's the largest discount you never approved.

Hours fade between the work and the timesheet

A call on the way to a meeting, fifteen minutes of email on a matter, a quick review at six in the evening. Reconstructed on Friday, those become round numbers — or zeros. The work happened; the record didn't.

Bills need to be defensible

Clients challenge entries. "Worked on matter — 4 hours" doesn't survive scrutiny; dated, described, reviewed entries do. Without an approval step between the timekeeper and the bill, the firm's word is the entire audit trail.

Rates and confidentiality vary by person and client

Partner and associate rates differ by matter; finance needs the money view; fee earners shouldn't stumble into each other's client work. Spreadsheets enforce none of that — they just hold whatever was pasted in last.

02 How Timix.AI fits

The billing-data layer for your matters

Timix.AI isn't legal practice management software, and doesn't pretend to be. It's the layer that captures, approves, and exports your firm's billable time — cleanly enough for the bill to lean on.

Matter-style hierarchy

Organize work as client → matter → task: in Timix.AI, your matters are projects under each client, with tasks and subtasks beneath. Rates are set per entity and inherit down, so partner and associate time on the same matter bills at the right numbers.

Customer → Project (your matter) → Task → SubTask — rates overridable at every level.

Six-minute increments, captured as they happen

Minute-level duration entry — fine enough for the six-minute (0.1 h) increments your bills are built on. Log by duration, by start and end times, or with the persistent timer. Timix.AI can file an entry from one sentence between meetings.

Every entry carries date, duration, description, and billing type; the timer survives navigation.

The Unbilled Time report

A dedicated report listing recorded-but-unbilled hours by client and matter, exportable to PDF or CSV. The lost time becomes a list — and the list becomes next month's revenue.

Unbilled Time and Customer Billing reports, both with PDF and CSV export.

Approvals with a history

Entries flow Draft → Submitted → Approved, or are rejected with a written reason. The pending queue and per-entry approval history give every bill a review trail — and role-based access keeps partners, billing staff, and fee earners seeing exactly what they should.

6 enforced roles — Owner, Admin, Finance, Manager, Member, Viewer — across the app and the API.

By role

One ledger, read differently

Owner, Admin, Finance, Manager, Member, Viewer — six roles, scoped so each person sees exactly what they should.

Owner / Admin

Set the firm up and keep it honest: add clients and matters, set partner and associate rates, configure who can see what, and pull the finance-grade exports the firm bills against.

Manager

A supervising partner or billing lead works the Pending Approvals queue — approving defensible entries, returning thin ones with a written reason — so every line on the bill has already survived a review.

Member / Viewer

Fee earners (Members) capture six-minute increments on the matters they're assigned to and submit them for review. Viewers get read-only access — useful for an outside auditor or a non-billing partner.

04 FAQ

Law-firm time tracking, asked and answered

Does Timix.AI support six-minute billing increments?

Yes — you can log any duration down to the minute, which covers the six-minute (0.1 h) increments your bills are built on. Enter time by duration, by start and end times, or with the running timer. Entries carry date, description, and billing type, so the record reads the way your bills are built.

Is Timix.AI legal practice management software?

No, and we won't pretend it is. Timix.AI is the time and billing-data layer: capture, matter-style organization, approval workflow, and export-ready reports. Case files, documents, and trust accounting live in your other systems.

Can we keep client matters confidential within the firm?

Access is role-based — Owner, Admin, Finance, Manager, Member, and Viewer scope what each person sees and does — and a fee earner logs time only against the subtasks they're assigned to. Each firm's organization is fully isolated from every other.

How do we get approved hours into our billing system?

Export the Customer Billing and Unbilled Time reports — two of the many built-in report pages — to PDF or CSV: billing-ready data for whatever your firm invoices with. On Professional and up, Timix.AI can also generate a commercial invoice from those hours; for LEDES or e-billing formats many firms require, export and bill from your practice-management system.
